Conducted by the Foundation for Political Innovation, “What next for democracy?” is an unprecedented survey administered in 26 countries that addresses a range of issues, including attachment to voting, confidence in institutions, rising authoritarianism, trust in leaders and in the media, judgments provoked by the police and the military, the state of opinion on the death penalty, immigration, abortion, refugees, Islam, etc. With the data collected and presented in this publication, we wish to cultivate reflections on the future of the democratic regime in the age of demographic transition and globalization.
